Food courts can be good place for vegetarians to eat at in Bangkok, especially if you have meat-eating friends with you. Food courts have a wide choice of dishes to chose from, so there will usually be something to suit all tastes. This food court is smaller than many you’ll see, but the vegetarian stall here is very good.

Sathorn Soi 8 is just a few minutes walk from Chong Nonsi BTS station. Turn into Soi 8 from Sathorn Road, and you’ll see the food court about 50 meters ahead of you on the right – just passed the row of small shops. This food court is only 3-4 minutes’ walk from Tien Sin, that I previously reviewed.

Sathorn Soi 8 Food Court Seating

Sathorn Soi 8 Food Court Seating

There is plenty of seating at this food court – as shown above, and in the adjoining room. Just order and pay for you food, then sit down and eat. The cutlery is near the seating, with a big pot of boiling water that people can dip their spoon and fork in to make sure they’re super-clean.

The veggie stall here has around 8-10 hot dishes that you can have with rice, or you can order other dishes from the menu on the wall. It’s all in Thai, but does have pictures of the dishes, so you can point at whatever you want. A typical meal such as rice and two hot dishes only costs 30 baht ($1), and you also get free soup.

The sign above is the sign you’ll see at every vegetarian (jay) restaurant in Thailand. You’ll also usually see yellow flags outside, as is the case with the veggie food stall here. This place mostly attracts a lunchtime office crowd and is only open Monday to Friday.
