Kathmandu is a very small photo gallery that’s just across the road from a popular Hindu temple – Sri Mariamman – on Pan Road in Bangkok’s Silom district. You could easily walk passed the gallery and not realize it’s there, as it’s tucked in between a men’s hair salon and a family cafe/restaurant.

The galley is located in a restore pre-war shophouse, and is owned by Thai photo-artist Manit Sriwanichpoom. The main exhibition space is upstairs and is just a small room with photos on two of the walls. Downstairs is packed with mainly framed photos and books.

There is a new exhibition every month or two, with the current exhibition being by Saengjun Limlohakul. I always visit this gallery when I’m in Bangkok, as I love this area of the city and this road in particular.

As well as this photo gallery and the Hindu temple, Pan Road is also home to five vegetarian restaurants, a great massage shop and the Myanmar Embassy. It also has some great places to sit and have a coffee.

To find the gallery, just turn into Pan Road from Silom Road and it will be about 10 shops along on your left. It’s the last but one shop before you come to a condo building (Treasure). It’s open 11:00-19:00 Tue-Sun; closed Mon. Their website is kathmandu-bkk.com.
